Enzymes are biological catalysts that speed up metabolic reactions. Their activity can be increased or decreased by several key factors, all of which work by affecting either the shape of the enzyme’s active site or the frequency of enzyme-substrate collisions. Some factors that affect enzyme activity are: Temperature, pH, Substrate Concentration, Inhibitors, Cofactors and Coenzymes.
